This is a photo I took of Mr. Willie Roeland.

When I was visiting South Africa in 1971, I stayed a few months with “Uncle” Willie Roeland at his house called “Eldorado.” He told me once how he was in a car full of businessmen hurrying to get to a meeting, when a tire blew out. He said they went all over the road, miraculously missing all the other cars, then the car rolled a few times, then spun around on it’s roof before landing back on it’s wheels. He said he only had time to say: “Jesus.” He said as they sat there in the car in total shock, with the dust settling, there was a tape in the tape deck, and someone was singing this song: “In times like these – you need a Savior.” Wow – that’s true!

Some other songs have been taken off the YouTube since I posted them. May these songs bless you as much as they bless me. The other day I came across the posting of his early records, and they were such a blessing to me. I used to own a copy of those records back in the 70’s when I was in Africa. SERMONS

1. Will the circle be unbroken

Do yourself a favor, and listen to this sermon. I was visiting South Africa back in 1970, and I went to a meeting of Pastor Arthur Nipper. He was the agent for Jimmy Swaggart’s records at that time, and I bought all his song records. Then Pastor Nipper said I should buy some of the preaching records too. So I bought two of them, but I never listened to them. Later on I was singing at a church in Durban, and a guy asked me if I had the record: “Will the circle be unbroken?” I said I did, and he rode a long way back to the Concord mission home where I was staying, and paid me for the record. He went away so happy, that I figured the record must be very good. So then I listened to the other one about “What shall the end be” and ended up on my knees beside the record player. Many years later I was singing in a church in Tzaneen, and the pastor had the record “Will the circle be unbroken” that I hadn’t listened to. So I was listening to it in the pastor’s living room about how his mother was praying for him and crying as he was pretending to sleep. The tears were running down my cheeks as I sat there next to the record player. Then the pastor’s with came in from outside, and saw me crying. I felt like such a fool. But that story moved me so much. Many years later I was driving my car, and I wrote a song about brother Swaggart’s story, and I was writing the song, I was crying, and praying for my son, that the devil can’t have my boy! My son is all grown up now, and loves the Lord so much, and I think he is the greatest person in the whole world. I use him as my model for Jesus in my Bible comics.

57. In die more

Here is one of the few Afrikaans songs I wrote many years ago. “In the morning.”

58. You’re my God

I wrote this song back in the 70,s and am shocked when it goes on YouTube that there are other songs with the same title! Quite a few songs that I wrote in the 70’s have the same titles as other songs out there.

59. All things work together for good

Here is another old song that I wrote in the early 70’s. Some people hate my songs and say they are not worth listening to, but some of these old songs are still a blessing to me. The other week I sat at the organ and sang this song about three times, and it was such a great blessing to me. My apologies to the rich professionals for this amateur recording done many years ago. The other day someone asked me to listen to some songs on the YouTube, and the one song had a billion views! When I listened, it did nothing for me. It was about a plump girl saying how glad she was to be plump. I listened to a couple of other modern singers who had many millions of views, and the songs did nothing for me. However, this song blessed me so much, even if it isn’t fancy.

60. A cloud in the sky

At church on Sunday, Yvonne asked me to load up more songs, so yesterday I loaded 40 old songs from my old cassette tapes, and will load them up to the YouTube as the weeks go by. Here is one of them. I hope it is a blessing to you. I have been blessed doing it. Thanks Yvonne. Thanks to Frank Horvath too, who says I can still use his nice pictures of the sea and fire, etc.

83. Talent contest “live” video – Sunshine is coming on my pathway

I wasn’t chosen for the contest, but I had a daydream that someone had an accident, and they called me in. That night at 10 pm, the manager phoned and asked me to join the show! To me, it was an appointment made by God. I was hoping they wouldn’t put me on first, and to my relief, they put me on last. It has been such a thrill for me. I was so nervous, and didn’t know what to expect, but I was chosen to be in the semi-finals along with another nine acts. Praise the Lord!
