Apparently “idle words” mean “inactive words.” Words are powerful. The world and everything it was made by words. By words, Jesus raised the dead and healed the sick, etc. When I was a kid, there a saying that went something like this: “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me.” I don’t think that is true. I have been in a couple of car accidents where I could have died, but the things that have hurt me the most, are words that people have said to me or have written to me.
